Here’s to you…tube!

So….I’ve started a youtube channel called HOLLYWOOD PARTY. I read a lot of books about Old Hollywood, shocker, and I tell you which ones are good and maybe introduce you to some new (old) stars that you might really enjoy. In addition to that, I’ve been writing my book, which is why this blog doesn’t see much action…for now. Please check out the old youtubes, and LIKE and SUBSCRIBE to HOLLYWOOD PARTY.

You’re A Pal and A Confidant

My favorite photo of Cassie as she demonstrates the proper way to use Scotch Tape.

So…the day you’ve been dreading has arrived Smaptie, day 9, photos of my best friends. I’m going to stick to talking about friends I’ve known the longest. There are only two: Cassie & Harry.

1994: Me, another munchkin, and Smaptie. Do I look like a 9 year old? I thought not.

I’ve known Cassie since I was in kindergarten but we really started to become friends in Mrs. Unfried’s 4th grade class. I was a child giant and she was a very bohemian 9 year old with Picasso book bags and denim Blossom hats. My little brother, Morgan, used to bug the crap out of us when we would hang out in my room. Being an only child, Cassie got sick of it real quick. She would jack her face up with Scotch tape and chase Morgan around the house yelling, “Morgan, will you be my boyfriend? Give me a kiss!!”

It didn’t end there, during a sleep over Morgan kept tossing his dirty socks at her. She grabbed them, got up and shoved them in his mouth. As if that wasn’t bad enough, he had braces, so the sock got tangled up in them. It was hilarious!

She didn’t just torment my little brother for me, that was just an added plus. We grew up when Comedy Central played reruns of SNL, so instead of spending time in the refreshing 100+ degree weather, we stayed indoors and memorized SNL skits and stand up specials. I swear to God, I have yearbooks with full on paragraph quotes from Dana Carvey’s 1995 HBO Special.

Our most favorite section to quote.

This is just because I was enjoying watching clips of the special.

I know what you're thinking, did Cassie ever grow? Yes, but so did I. Cassie, Me and Harry's girlfriend in Vegas, 2008.

Another person from my days at Highland Elementary, is Harry. I’ve known him since we were 6 but we didn’t become pals until high school when Harry dated my friend, Rachel…that was a fun soap opera to watch.

Harry moved in with me and Queer Eye in college. In 2007, Harry, his girlfriend and I went to Vegas for Halloween. I highly recommend a Vegas Halloween trip at least once in your life—so many freaks!

And because I’m awesome, I helped him figure out and put together his costume, Doc Brown.

I was a peacock and he was Doc Brown.

Tip: to achieve perfect Doc Brown hair, wear a Marilyn Monroe wig backwards.

As the night wore on, we had to eat…and drink more. The bar we were in was FULL of Asian dudes, which I apparently thought was hilarious. I decided to alert Harry to this fact and snapped a photo of the result.

My favorite photo of Harry: I am great at cracking him up.

He has since moved to Northern California. I have only visited him once…I don’t care for hippies and they tend to make their dwellings in the bay area.

My only trip up North to visit Harry in Hippieland.

I haven’t seen him since last May because he has a “real job.”  I do miss talking to him about ‘Back to the Future,’ Teddy Roosevelt and Freddie Mercury. We frequently talk on the phone but it’s not the same as sitting on the couch for 5 hours, shootin’ the sh*t.

I bet you thought I was going to use “You’re My Best  Friend” by Queen!  Well, you thought wrong!
